October 5, 2005 - Hell Freezes
Over
(Update,
September 1, 2006 Try as I may, I cannot find these computers at
Dell anymore. I guess they just "couldn't" sell computers without
Micro$oft Operating Systems on them, huh? By the way, why doesn't
Dell sell any computers with AMD processors?)
I have been saying for years that you couldn't buy
a computer from a major name-brand vendor without getting MS-Windows
preloaded on it. I have said that "hell would freeze over" before a
major company even dared to thumb their nose at Micro$oft.
October 5, 2005, Hell Froze Over when Dell
announced that would sell 3 Dimension Desktop models with copies of
FREEDos included, but not installed on the hard drive, (a small
concession to Microsoft I'm sure).
In contrast, since 1996, ICE Computing has given
our customers a choice of buying custom built computers with or without
a current Operating System.
